Quote:
Milutin Ivković is former Serbian defender. He was one of the best pre war defenders in Yugoslavia. His position was right back and he impressed with his great strength, combativness and fighting spirit. Very athletic built, tough tackler but always correct, never too violent. He was the first one to perform scissor kick in Yugoslavia, clearing the high balls in that manner over the 50-60 meters distance. Player with imposing stature, strength, temperament and strong will. Dr Milutin Ivković Milutinac (3 March 1906, Belgrade - 25 May, 1943, Jajinci), pre-war Yugoslav football legend, a great player, an exceptional figure, a doctor, a leftist, illegal political worker. Maternal grandson of Duke Radomir Putnik. Started playing in the youth of Yugoslavia 1922 and remained at the club until 1929, winning titles in 1924 and 1925. He moved to Soko than. In NT debuted 1925 in Paris against France and till 1934 played 39 matches. He was known as "state brake". After returning from the World Cup, 1st October 1930, he married Ela and in 1931 she gave birth to their first daughter Gordana. That same year he graduated from medicine, and later specialized in dermatology. Another daughter Mirjana was born in the 1934. He was one of the initiators of the boycott of the Olympics in Berlin in 1936, edited the newspaper "Youth", behind which stood the Communist Party. The Germans arrested him and executed the 1943 in Jajinci. The FSJ at Partizan stadium in 1951 erased a plaque dedicated to Milutinac. The street close to the Partizan stadium now bears his name.

Back then right- and left-back positions were centre back since the 2-3-5 was still the most common tactics. It makes sense to have CB as main position unless he was an uncommon defender who constantly pushed forward.
