INFO:McDougall was a left half and, in his early years, an inside left. He spent the majority of his career at Liverpool, making 356 appearances from 1928 to 1938, scoring 12 goals. He previously played for Partick Thistle. He capped for Scotland twice in 1931. McDougall was reliable in the defence, distinguished for his simple style of play, calm composure and great assurance. He tackled his opponents with accuracy and determination, but he also showed a clever work with no nonsense. On top of that, he was excellent on the ball as he was a great orchestrator. While he a showed a decent scoring rate in his first year with Liverpool when his main position was inside left, netting the goal 8 times in 39 matches, he scored only 4 goals after he was turned into mainly a half back.
