Schramseis played as right back in the old system. Very combative player, strong and brave, often too aggressive in tackling, strong physically with good sense of anticipating. He had good speed and could send very useful long balls from defence. On the other side, he wasn't paricularly offensive minded and except of good long passes, didn't have much contribution to the attacking moves of the squad just like other defenders at the time who were forbidden to cross the centre line.
