Rudolf Gellesch is former German player. He was inside right and wing half in fantastic Schalke team of late 30's which won 6 league titles in a row. Gellesch was pretty similar to Fritz Szepan, had excellent tactical awareness, great vision and technique, not impressive pace but had numerous assists. Lanky Gellesch also played important playmaking role in German NT. With 20 caps he is still one of the ten core switch with the most appearances for the German Football Association. Rudi Gellesch celebrated as a player with the miners three championships and a Cup victory, stood in the legendary Breslau-Elf and took part in the 1938 World Cup in France. On 5 October 1941 ended his career in the National Team. He was a gifted footballer. Rudolf "Rudi" Gellesch (born May 1, 1914) acted mostly in the middle of Schalke Wunderelf in the 30s and was doing much for the game design of the legendary "gyro".
