Although he was in his club mainly centre wing half, in NT he played as right wing half. Mock was very elegant player with great technique, liked to join the offensive moves but was also able to do good defensive work, had good tactical awareness and decent playmaking abilities. He was remembered for his attacking moves but IMO he was even better in defensive tasks, especially in his club where he played as centre wing half and in many crucial Mitropa games did excellent job in defence together with his side backs. Player who was very intelligent and understoood very well the course of the game, equally good in offensive and defensive play, later even captained the German NT. But he often had disputes with his coaches, first with Hogan after which he's never played again for Austria, than later also with Herberger.
