Sallustro was player of enormous speed and very strong shot. Had sweet touch and technique like the most players from South America, possed great and fast dribbling as well as excellent heading abilities, especially his leap was outstanding. His weaknesses were not athlete way of life, poor physical conditions and individualists way of playing. Born in Asuncion in 1908, played between 1925 and 1938, wearing the jerseys of Internaples, Salernitana and, above all, of the Napoli football club. For SportRiva Sallustro is often also referred to as Sallustro I, to distinguish him from his brother Orestes, who was also a football player. Attila was the first real idol of Napoli fans. Young Sallustro moved with his family in the shadow of Vesuvius, at only 18 he was already acclaimed by the Neapolitan fans. At 21 he debuted in the Italian national football team, the game won by the Azzurri against Portugal for 6 to 1, but then the coach Vittorio Pozzo's preferred Giuseppe Meazza, arousing the anger of the Neapolitan fans, who thought it unfair to exclude the by the National Italian Attila with which he played only three times. With the shirt of Napoli has played Attila Sallustro 8 league seasons scoring 107 goals, and a short career marked by the Second World War and he was coached by legendary coach William Garbutt. Sallustro remember the spirit of pure amateurism, which led him to reject any financial compensation from Naples. In return, the company gave him a luxury car. In the last years of his life, he was appointed director of San Paolo and has often mentioned the possibility to dedicate the planting of Fuorigrotta. Handsome, tall, blond hair: Naples went wild for that man mild and shade, as well as for his football skills, but because it was somehow a repetition of the fairy tale of Cinderella, with Attila in the part of Prince Charming. In fact, the variety theater enthusiast, fell in love (part) of the Russian-born soubrette Lucy D'Albert, who soon became his wife. It is said that when Sallustro entered the theater to see his beloved, the show actually was suspended in tribute to the "divine". All in all, for him, football was a game and little more. This does not prevent him from achieving his goals in the famous 106 goals and come right in the Olympus of the samples of the Napoli soccer. After retiring from football he stayed in Naples where he died in 1983.
