He was right winger, very fast on the ball even faster than his rivals without the ball, explosive player with excellent ball control, even at highest speed his close control was superb when dribbling. The fast and extremely reliable right winger celebrated his debut in the 1924 League team of Fortuna Dusseldorf. However, born in Düsseldorf's Flingern Albrecht could initially claim a regular place for themselves. It was only in 1927/28 he made the breakthrough on 15 and April 1928 he made his debut at the international match against Switzerland in Bern with a goal in the national team. He played for Fortuna Dusseldorf to 1945 and was with the team in 1933 German champions. For the final, the 11 June 1933 was held in Cologne against FC Schalke 04, he was not suffered through a breach in the run up to the finals on the court. For the final 21 June 1936 in Berlin against 1 FC Nuremberg against stormed the Right Wing for Fortuna. The final was lost 1:2 in extra gates. Albrecht won the Fortune 1936 to 1940 in the series championship in the Gauliga Lower Rhine. With the selection of the Lower Rhine, he was 27 February 1937 in Berlin, the successful Gauauswahl 2-1 in the final against Saxony. The club mate Paul Janes at right back and Jacob Bender at left-runners also were members of the winning team of the Imperial Federation Cup of the year in 1937. After the Second World War, Albert was still working as a (player) Victoria 02 trainer at Dusseldorf, the Police Sports Club Dusseldorf and Holzheimerstrasse SG. He also took part in the Olympic Games in 1928. Until 1934 he was a regular in the national team before he had occurred shortly before the World Cup in Italy in 1934, was replaced by Ernst Lehner Augsburg, which is why the game on 11 March 1934 against Luxembourg (9:1) in Luxembourg was his last international match. He was a member of the World Cup squad in Italy in 1934, but was not in the attainment of the third place in the Empire of Elf coach Otto Mink used. From 1952 he devoted himself exclusively to his Toto lottery outlet in the center of Düsseldorf. Ernst Albrecht died in 1976 of a hemorrhage, 68 years old.
