INFO:

Former Servette legend. Belli was complete player who could play almost on all positions on the field, he was mainly centre forward but later played as inside right and eventuelly centre back and captaining the team. Very strong and robust, good scorer with feet and head, very well positioned in the box. Andre Belli came with 16 years as a junior to Servette. His story is extraordinary by the chaos of war. Belli as a striker had scored in the last year as a junior in 26 games incredible 92 goals! What a ratio! Just mastered it brings the boys model athlete Karl cents for the season 1933/34 into the first team. In the first year he has continued to demonstrate his skills. Servette was in his first year as an active champion. When war broke out in 1939 Belli was waiting for his naturalization in Switzerland. As a Frenchman, he was drafted in 1939 but then for the Army and was a prisoner of war in the fall of the Wehrmacht. He spent several months in captivity. He was released again on Swiss intervention. A few months later (spring 1940) he was with Swiss champions Servette. The coach was then Trello Abegglen. Andre Belli was a striker who was the head and the feet very fail. Among Fernand Jaccard was in his mid-forties to the Geneva "Tourbillon" famous. His team won the championship in 1946 with incredibly richly varied attacking football. The robust Belli was next Tamini, Facchinetti and Lucien Pasteur part of this legendary hurricane. In Servette, he was mainly strikers. With 31 years ago, now naturalized, he plays for the first time in the "national team". At its premiere in 1947 in Zurich, Switzerland won 1-0 against England. In the seven games played for the national team which Belli was he mainly used the right of midfield. At the end of his career, he played again under Charles Rappan. As Belli was a complete footballer, he conducted the end of his career, the defense of "Grenats". In 1949, he was able to lift Cup final with a 3-0 win over GC as the captain Sandoz trophy into the air. 1950 in his last year he was again with Swiss champions Servette. In the 17 years (what loyalty!) He was a total of 4 x Swiss champions and cup winners once. As a coach, he served later in Vevey-Sports and CA Geneva. He died in March 1993.
