INFO:Manuel Anatol is former Spanish born French player who also competed in athletics and was Spanish champion in various disciplines like 100m, 200m, 400m and relays. As a footballer he based his play on physical strength and pace, he was very strong, fast and had powerful shot. He was regarded as one of the best right backs of his time in Europe, who excelled in the interceptions with the head, body and foot. Only the left foot was a bit uncertain. Admittedly, Anatol was helped by his keeper, a little adventurous and acrobatic, but he was the soul of the defense, the dike on which the breaking waves came to break, the irreducible blockhouse. Manuel Anatol was a very complete athlete. In his youth he took part for several years in athletic with remarkable success. His debut as an athlete, also defending the colors of Real Union, was in a test on September 4, 1922 in San Sebastian, and equaled the Spanish record of the 200 meter dash (23.4 sec.), Which had Diego Ordonez. In the summer of 1923, Anatol Spain was proclaimed champion of the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash, and 4x400m relay integrating the selection of Guipuzcoa in Spain Championships held in Getxo (Vizcaya). In 1929 when he was offered the opportunity to finally play with the football team of France. Anatol accepted and became a regular player bleues them between 1929 and 1934 with 16 international matches. In 1930 he was considered one of the stars of the French team, but did not attend the World 1930, as this was played in Uruguay and at the same supposed to go away 2 months of work. It is especially remembered the only goal he scored and internationally, to beat the Swiss goalkeeper Charles Pasche in Colombes Stadium on March 23, 1930 with a shot from long range free kick. The sources of the time range from 40 to 55 metres away. Manuel died in 1990.
