Attack / Defence Awareness Card: BalancedINFO:Mario Pizziolo is former Italian player, one of the best midfielders in the country at the time. He played mainly as right wing half, very strong in man marking and interdiction, good passer and very temperamental, had very good technique and ball control which was unusual for players on his position, good athletic capacities and knew to make good attacking run. Mario Pizziolo played as a defensive midfielder, he began his career in the youth sections of AS Livorno Calcio and Ternana, 1924, he moved to AC Pistoiese. Pizziolo 1929 was sold to Fiorentina, who played at that time in Serie B. In Florence, he spent most of his career and went with the team for the season 1931/32 to Serie A. 1936 ended Pizziolo, at the age of 27 years, due to numerous injuries sustained to his career. Then he trained several times for a short time the crew of Pescara Calcio. In the national team debut on 1 Pizziolo January 1933 in a 3-1 victory against Germany until 1936, he was part of the permanent staff of the Squadra Azzurra, which won the European Cup Football Teams 1933 to 1935 and was one of the favorite players of coach Vittorio Pozzo. Also during the World Cup in 1934 in his own country was in the squad Pizziolo the Italians. Mario Pizziolo went into the tournament as a player. In the second match, the first quarterfinal match against Spain in Florence, he retired to a torn ligament in his left knee and was out for the rest of the championship. His place in the team took a Attilio Ferraris. As the former fascist regime in Italy only the players who had participated in the final against Czechoslovakia, was distinguished with the Medal of the Italian Federation Giuoco Calcio, was honored Pizziolo not official, while coach Pozzo and teammates protested vehemently. Only 54 years later, in 1988, was honored by the FIGC Mario Pizziolo with the official medal, this time he was together with Angelo Schiavio, the last survivor of The 1934 World Champion team. Mario Pizziolo died on 30 April 1990 after a long illness in Florence.
