Jiří Sobotka played for the Slavia Prague (1932-40), with whom he won four Czechoslovakian championships (1933-35., and 1937), Mitropa-Cup 1938 and 1934 was the highest ever league goalscorer. He then played for Hajduk Split (1940-42) and won the Croatian championship (1941), for Bat'u, Zlín (1942-46) and La Chaux de Fonds (1946-51). He is a versatile forward, most inside forward and centre forward, a great organizer of the game, intelligent and with a specific style of play, a great shooter, but physically quite weak, which was compensated by excellent technique. The Hajduk played in the forward trio with Frane Matošić and Ratko Kacian. Czechoslovakia national team (1934-37) played 23 games and scored 8 goals.
