Legendary Italian player with excellent vision and technique, fantastic 50 meters long passes, but good scorer as well. Ferrari played even deeper as wing half, constructing the attacks, not blessed with good speed, but had great dribbling, excellent and strong shot from distance, great tactical awareness. Giovanni Ferrari was born December 6, 1907 in Alexandria, in Tripoli. He grew up in the neighborhood of "Canarola," one of the poorest of Alexandria, which took its name from a drain outside the crossing, a very young age he showed great talent in football, becoming popular among young people and stimulate the interest of the town team, the Alexandria, with the end of ten years and the resumption of the league after the end of World War I had been able to become, thanks to a fertile breeding ground, one of the football powers of the time . Already in 1923, fifteen years, made his debut in a gray knit championship. His mentor was Augustus Rangoon and especially Carlo Carcano, gray player and coach in the future course of his career was able to exploit the full potential of the method fielding offensive Ferrari in midfield behind the strikers, soon became a fundamental piece for the midfield . When Carcano left Alexandria for a job as a coach in Naples in 1925, the rookie coach with executives insisted dell'Internaples for Ferrari with him: he was heard, and the midfielder proved decisive in the 1925-1926 season, in which the 'inexperienced team still reached the bell for the first time in its history the South League final, then lost in Rome against Alba. Given the success of the couple, the leaders of Alexandria, who came from a difficult season where the team had risked relegation, were persuaded to engage Carcano as a coach for the 1926-1927 season and regain the eighteen year old Ferrari for 12,000 pounds, more than double Internaples than when it had paid the previous year and grays. The effort was rewarded by good economic performance in the league and the Cup victory dell'Alessandria CONI. Another important connection was that of Luigi Bertolini, purchased from Savona in 1927 called on to cover his back to Ferrari, went with him to form a well-matched pair, who led the 1927-1928 season in Alexandria towards winning the league, not to matter of a few points. In that season, Ferrari scored 24 goals in 32 games. Again in 1929-1930, the first Serie A single round in which he played the starring Alexandria until the end of the first round: Ferrari scored 17 goals in 26 games. At that period was the debut of twenty-two years old Ferrari in National, which was paired with the center forward of the Ambrosiana-Inter Giuseppe Meazza, the two overturned the result in the friendly against Switzerland, from 0-2 to 4-2, the February 2, 1930 in Rome. In April of that year made his debut in the National B, which racked up 7 goals in 4 appearances. In the summer of 1930 Ferrari left Alexandria and followed Carcano in the ranks of President Edoardo Agnelli of Juventus. There he found listed on the defensive trio formed by Gianpiero Combi, Virginio Rosetta, Umberto Caligaris Renato Cesarini and his fellow ward: their work Raimundo Orsi allowed the attacker to score 20 goals, Juventus, winning 25 races out of 34, celebrated winning the league 1930-1931. The performance of Ferrari in Juventus further improved the following year, with the employment of Bertolini in alexandrite. Juventus was so destined to win four league titles during the so-called golden Quinquennio. In the National Ferrari continued his illustrious career under the guidance of Vittorio Pozzo: May 13, 1933 became the first Italian player to score a goal in the English national team, in a friendly in Rome. At the 1934 World Cup played 4 games, scoring 2 goals. At the end of the tournament graduated Italy World Champion for the first time in its history. In 1934 Edoardo Agnelli died of a plane crash in 1935 and Carlo Carcano was dismissed as coach of Juventus, with a leadership change, the twenty-seven Ferrari decided to leave the Bianconeri dall'Ambrosiana being hired in Milan, where he met Meazza, with Inter, under the leadership of Armando Castellazzi, Ferrari won his sixth championship in 1937-1938. Well at the end of the season brought him back to play in the national team of 1938 World Cup in France, where Italy is reconfirmed World Champion and Ferrari where he played all four matches. On 4 December 1938 in Naples played his last match against France in blue. In 1940 he won a new championship Ambrosiana (1939-1940), and Ferrari played 8 games. At the end of the season left Milan to Bologna. In 1940 Ferrari took the opportunity of rebirth with the move to Bologna, of the President and coach Renato Dall'Ara Austrian Hermann Felsner. We were winning the league 1940-1941, the eighth for Ferrari, who signed as an Italian record achieved only many years later by Furino. He closed his active career at the end of the season 1941-1942, to 36 years, after a fleeting return to Juventus as a player-coach. In all, the black and white jersey, he played 193 games (166 in Serie A, Italian Cup and three in 24 in Mitropa Cup), scoring 76 goals (67 in Serie A and 9 in Europe). After his retirement, Ferrari began the coaching career. After the brackets Juventus, started on the bench of the Ambrosiana in 1942-1943: the team did not go beyond the fourth place, ten points behind champion from Torino in Italy. On April 25, 1943, during the last league game lost at home to Venice on the verge of a demotion, Ferrari "expelled" his player, Ubaldo Passalacqua, accusing him of lack of commitment and then being fined by Federation. Experiences were also shorter than those at the helm of Brescia, where he resigned after just two league games in direct conflict with management, and Padua, years later. In the midst of an al Prato, two seasons from 1948 to 1950, topped by a promotion to Serie B and a relegation to Serie C the following year. Together with Paul Mazza was finally the coach of the Italian national team during the expedition to the 1962 World Cup in Chile, which ended with the game passed into history as the Battle of Santiago ".
