The first Slovenian player who was called to the NT. Stanko was born in Dobrava in Ljubljana in what was then Austria-Hungary the country. His football career began and ended in Ljubljana Illyria (1912-1922). He was a lower growth (170cm) and very lightweight (60 kg), which was and still is quite unusual for a position of full back. He was very fast, great technician and at that time one of the few defensive players in the world who are involved in the attack and scored goals. By Illyria has won 3 championships Slovenia. Representation then Kingdom of Yugoslavia was performed twice on its maiden appearance in 1920 at the Summer Olympics in Antwerp. In 1922, Stanko interrupted his football career as he decided to study medicine at the University of Prague, where he graduated in 1928. As a doctor, worked in Ljubljana, Kranj and Vienna.
