The first Slovenian player who was called to the NT. Stanko was born in Dobrava in Ljubljana in what was then Austria-Hungary the country. His football career began and ended in Ljubljana Illyria (1912-1922). He was a lower growth (170cm) and very lightweight (60 kg), which was and still is quite unusual for a position of full back. He was very fast, great technician and at that time one of the few defensive players in the world who are involved in the attack and scored goals. By Illyria has won 3 championships Slovenia. Representation then Kingdom of Yugoslavia was performed twice on its maiden appearance in 1920 at the Summer Olympics in Antwerp. The Yugoslavs lost twice (against Czechoslovakia 0:7 and 2:4 against Egypt) and ended up with the competition. In 1922, Stanko interrupted his football career as he decided to study medicine at the University of Prague, where he graduated in 1928. As a doctor, worked in Ljubljana, Kranj and Vienna. He died in the 47th the age of Ljubljana shortly after its liberation at the end of the second World War II. Points of Interest. In the friendly match in Ljubljana against Slavia Prague famous in 1921, which ended with 3:3 loss Stanko was the best player the game has reached the goal. Stanko was to be a truly exceptional nogometeš that was part of the team because the choice of representative exclusively in the domain of Croats.
