INFO:Barbesino was a wing-half or half-back. He played 83 matches and scored 11 goals for Casale from 1911 to 1920, winning the historical 1913-14 Italian championship. He was named captain of the team and debuted with Italy − he's the first ever player from Casale who played for the national team − at a very young age, gaining a total of 5 caps and scoring once. He played also for Legnano in 1917-18. Also an aviator, he died in 1941 in a plane accident and his body was never found.
Barbesino was a versatile midfielder, extremely able with the head, gifted with great technique, symbol of Casale's team whose aggressive playstyle he was in perfect harmony with. Leader and captain, he was like a coach in the field, driving the team with courage and spirit of sacrifice, being the first to enter the pitch and the last to leave it. Tall but thin, with thick wavy blonde hair, he gave his opponents the impression of a fragile man they could break in half in a physical challenge. Unfortunately for them, most of the times they were the ones who got put down. He was able at holding up the first back line and intercept the balls with quick timing, then trigger an offense with a through pass. He was dynamic, possessed good speed but was likely not too agile. In a Prima Categoria match, for example, he was dribbled several times with apparent ease. Not a bad shooter, his goal for Italy came against Switzerland, when he made his way through the defence and delivered on goal a shot with good power.
