INFO:
Luigi Gabba − erroneously called Eduardo Gino − was a centre forward. He had his best time at Casale, scoring 52 goals in 93 matches from 1923 to 1929 − excluding the unsuccessful 1926-27 season at Bologna, where he appeared only once, even scoring a goal. He was top scorer of the Nerostellati in the 1925-26 and 1927-28 seasons. He had spells also at Torinese, Legnano, Seregno and Imperia, where he retired in 1936.
Gabba was a prolific striker, capable of scoring from almost any position when he was unmarked but his playstyle was rugged and approximative. According to the reports from the 1920s, he was effective inside the box thanks to his physique and very good heading ability as well as outside the area thanks to a tremendous long range shot. He was astute at taking advantage of every mistake commited by an opposing defender, going immediately on the ball. He was though quite slow and this characteristic made him capable to play well on heavy pitches. His playstyle instilled high aggressiveness to the offensive actions of his team but this doesn't mean that he was focused only on scoring. In fact, he used to pass the ball to the wingers when he had the occasion and, thanks to his strength, he could drag the opposing defensive line with him and then pass the ball to an unmarked teammate. His biggest issue was his lack of consistency in condition because of which he alternated good and bad performances.
