Gallino was a winger or inside-forward in his early years and a full-back in his late career. He spent the majority of his career at Casale from 1921 to 1924 and 1926 to 1929, scoring 16 goals in 65 matches during his first spell and 2 in 67 during his second spell. He also played for Legnano from 1924 to 192 and Alessandria from 1929 to 1931. He retired in 1936 following experiences with Pontedecimo and Entella.
Gallino was a good striker for consistency, quickness, technique and tactical awareness that distinguished his style of play. He wasn't phenomenal because while he could do everything well, he never really stood out. Nonetheless, Gallino was impressively fast and received praised by the crowd every time he ran down the flank. His attacks weren't just quick but also smart and effective. He liked to make personal actions and deliver extremely powerful shots. But he was also an assist-man who possessed solid passing and pretty accurate crossing, either from active play of corner kick.
After transitioning into a full-back, he formed an excellent defence with Caligaris at Casale and Costa at Alessandria. Gallino could still use his physical qualities at his advantage,also relying on a firm and accurate tackling ability. He could keep up with the forwards of strong teams like Inter and Juventus and. Despite his consistency, though, he suffered against agile and skilled strikers like Giuseppe Meazza and Carlo Reguzzoni. Nonetheless, he rarely had performances that could be considered underwhelming. He scored his last goal in the Italian top division from penalty during the 1928-29 season.
