INFO:Maybe not the best ever Swedish footballer but surely the best athlete among them. Karl competed in many sports, among them he recorded 13,25 meters in Triple Jump and 175 cm in High Jump. He had enormous energy, often during the half time break of football match he'd go out and run 400 meters relay!! He played on lot of positions mainly inside forward and centre half but also as keeper sometimes. Karl had good shot, excellent heading abilities and good technique. Gustafsson made his debut as a football player at IFK Norrköping squad already as fifteen. He later became a real goal scorer. In a match against Sala led Köping after the first half with four goals and all kedjespelare had scored, but Gustafsson. It became boring solutions and taunts during the break. Gustafsson said to myself to do ten goals in the second half. Another example is IFK Norrköping 1906 with the 17-0 victory in the DM-football against Arboga, when he enrolled as an all-time top scorer with 12 own goals evenly divided halves. Sweden's first international football was played July 12, 1908 against Norway in Gothenburg. Gustafsson had to do it football's historic first national team goal. Sweden finally won with the 11-3. Gustafsson took part in three Olympic Games, 1908, 1912 and 1920. He was also selected as a reserve for the Olympics 1924. Gustafsson traveled in January 1913 to England to study football and he signed an amateur contract with Leicester where he played 11 matches. During this period played international matches across Europe. Soccer interest in Sweden has now increased and in 1916 when Sweden beat it then impossible Denmark, before 20 000 spectators, with 4-0, the football on everyone's lips and the whole of Stockholm came in victory, after the game. Gustafsson took detailed statistics on every game and his career is impressive. How about the 296 win matches, 232 losses and 107 draws, a total of 635 matches. 32 caps of which 7 were included in the Olympics, 44 SM-games, 66 international friendly, a total he made 483 goals, several SM-sign for Djurgarden and more. Gustafsson is also one of the first to experience the Great Grab Bars brand of football. After his active career he opened a sports shop that quickly became known throughout Sweden. His activities outside of football and other sports is something amazing. He was not only an instructor but also leaders at different levels in some 15 bodies from the presidency in Norrköping IS and a member of Västmanland-Närkes sports as Chairman 1938-40 in Västmanland IF's first ice hockey section and member of the board of Köpings Wrestling. Trains cabinet comprised more than 30 clubs.
