INFO:

Armand Joseph Antoine Alexis Swartenbroeks (June 30,1892-October 3,1980) was a Belgian football (soccer) player who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympic. He was a member of the Belgian team, which won the gold medal in the football tournament. Swartbroeks debuted in 1911 in the first team Daring Club of Brussels, which took office in First Class, and immediately won a permanent place in the squad. The team became champion in 1912 and 1914 until the First World War. After the resumption of the league, the team was champion again in 1921. Swartbroek played for the team until 1930 and the 295 games he played in this period, he scored 28 goals. In 1913 Swartbroeks was for the first time selected for the Belgian national team. Between 1913 and 1928 he played 53 international matches, a Belgian record that until 10 years later by Bernard Voorhoof broken. Swartbroek 37 games was the captain of the Belgian team. With the national team, he was Olympic champion at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. Also at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris he played.

Quote:

The SB was added again by someone. Does anyone have any info if he really played like a true LB or just a FB at the left side on a 2-3-5 formation?

Players like this should always have SB as a secondary position imo. In game they will basically play as a wide CB anyway with those AGG and ATT stats (and Swartenbroeks actually has rather high stats there for his position and era, most players are below 60). I always give the left and right back in the 3-2-5 SB as the main position, and players like this that played in the 2-3-5 formation would 100% be able to play that position with no difficulty since with very rare exceptions, it was a completely defensive role.

Yes, fullbacks in Metodo 2-3-5 were pure center-backs.

That's good reasoning. I actually thought of something like that too, specially considering some coaches still uses central defenders as full backs (Höwedes at the 2014 WC is a good example). At the same time, this could apply to any central defender...
