Chierico was a left winger. He spent his entire career at Alessandria from 1926 to 1933, making 112 appearances and scoring 23 goals ─ 17 of which between 1926 and 1928. He left for Pavia in 1933 but never played and retired a year later. Chierico was a fast attacking player, dangerous when starting his run from afar. Effective at unmarking himself, he would then receive the ball and shoot on goal with remarkable shots ─ usually powerful and unstoppable ─ or more rarely hit a header. A very able passer, he was especially threatening on the left side where he could deliver accurate crosses to the box. He formed an excellent pair with Giovanni Ferrari on the left.
