INFO:Longworth was a right-back. He spent the majority of his career at Liverpool, making 370 appearances from 1910 to 1928 (games played during wartime aren't included). He capped for England in 5 occasions in the early 1920s, becoming also Liverpool's first ever player to be named captain of the national team.
One of Liverpool's all-time greats, Longworth is also considered one of the most consistent players in the history of the "Reds" given that he apparently never had a bad game. When he was signed by Liverpool, the team was in need of a good full back. In one of his first matches, he showed excellent qualities that no other defender in the team had. Although he wasn't perfect, among the things he did in that match a good header save of a sure goal was quite worthy. Longworth ended up to become a reliable defender and fearless tackler. He was dashing, smart, resourceful, gifted with an uncommon timing of intervention. His kicking ability of high level and calm composure ensured that his right back position was rarely threatened. His career had great longevity for the time as Longworth played his last match when he was 40 years old.
