INFO:
Raybould was a centre forward and left winger, although he was deployed as right inside and right winger in his early years. He spent the best time of his career at Liverpool, where he made 226 appearances from 1900 to 1907, scoring 130 goals. His record of 67 goals in his first 100 matches for Liverpool stood for over a century until it was beaten by Mohamed Salah in 2020.
Raybould was a prolific forward, remarkably fast on the ball, dangerous when in possession, to the point that defenders had to avoid any mistake, otherwise the striker would score straight away. When he was anywhere near the goal, he gave the goalkeeper no chance to save the shot. Raybould was distinguished for his power, deadly finishing ability, great turn of speed, clever ball control, fearless runs to reach an advanced pass. He was praised also for his good ball distribution as he could send crosses with amazing accuracy. Liverpool's main penalty taker in his first years with the "Reds", he scored nearly a dozen penalties from 1900 to 1903. He was criticised at the beginning of the 1904-05 Second Division when he played his first matches as left winger because the fans wanted him always to score. At the end of the season he scored 19 league goals, leading Liverpool to the promotion. He was incredibly consistent given that he scored at least 16 goals in almost all seasons he spent with Liverpool. Only in the second half of the 1899-00 season and in 1903-04 he scored respectively 7 and 5 goals.
