INFO:Lacey was a winger or inside forward, capable of playing as half back. He spent his best years at Liverpool, where he made 269 appearances from 1912 to 1924, scoring 29 goals. He played also for Shelbourne and Everton among other teams in England and Ireland. He capped 23 times and scored 3 goals for the national team that now represents Northern Ireland. He then capped for Ireland in 3 occasions, scoring once.
Lacey usually played on the left side, although he was deployed mostly as right winger in the 1921-22 and 1922-23 First Division winning seasons. He was an excellent player, dashing, fearless, versatile, gifted with superb talent, a clever footwork, and a short but rock solid physique, to the point that it was nearly impossible to take the ball off him in physical challenges nor with tackles. Also, he was distinguished for his tricky style of play on the wing that he showed before setting up many scoring chances for his teammates. Even though he wasn't a prolific scorer, he was a threat as soon as he was within a good shooting range thanks to his powerful, and yet accurate shots.
