INFO:Lucas was a full-back on either side. He spent his entire career at Liverpool, making 366 appearances from 1919 to 1932, scoring 3 goals, all from penalty. He capped for England 3 times. While in some seasons he was a regular starter at Liverpool, in others he alternated the role with Ephraim Longworth or Donald McKinlay. A short but heavily built defender, Lucas was strong, timely in tackling, gifted with determination and a powerful kick on both feet that enabled him to clear the ball far forward. His skill in the air though was the most impressive. In fact, he's regarded as one of Liverpool's best ever headers Liverpool thanks to his outstanding elevation. Years later, he was compared to Kevin Keegan in that matter. Nonetheless, despite his abilities, Lucas wasn't considered on the same level as Ephraim Longworth, and that's why he wasn't always a first choice.
