A goalkeeper, Knapp played for the Hungarian National team in the 1910s and made eight international appearances. Knapp as the "lanky, courageous, good catching the ball and ubiquitous goalie of MTK [Budapest]." Knapp died in 1918, at the height of his career, of Spanish influenza. He was only 28 years old.
Knapp was the goalkeeper for club team MTK Budapest and helped them win the Hungarian Championship in 1914, 1917, and 1918 (there was no competition in 1915 or 1916 due to World War I). He also played for the Hungarian National team from 1913-1918 and appeared in eight games.
