INFO:Forshaw was an inside or centre forward. He spent the majority of his career at Liverpool, making 288 appearances from 1919 to 1927, scoring 123 goals. Scoring 20 goals in both 1921-22 and 1922-23 seasons, he was instrumental for Liverpool's back-to-back First Division wins, althouh his most prolific year was the 1925-26 with 29 goals. He then spent two seasons at Everton, winning another national title, becoming the only player so far to win the English top league with both Merseyside rivals. He retired in 1931 after one season at Wolverhampton Wanderers and one in lower leagues.
A smart, unorthodox, unpredictable striker, Forshaw always got his opponent in the condition of never knowing what he was going to do next. He was cool, calm, methodical, seemingly tireless, and gifted with great positional sense. He was crafty on the ball, in possession of fine technical skills that enabled him to stop the ball well or make some step over movements. He wasn’t too selfish to forget about his teammates, but he wasn’t either too unselfish to play for them. He was highly prolific, deadly accurate in front of the goal, gifted with a powerful shot in either foot, and an amazing heading ability. Also, he could deliver accurate ground diagonal crosses from the side. He was a fan favourite as he was a goal machine especially against Liverpool’s rivals, scoring hat-tricks against Arsenal, Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Everton. In addition, he scored four goals in a single match against Sheffield United.
