INFO:Stacey was a full-back. His career started in 1902 at Sheffield Wednesday. Then, he played for Thornhill United and Barnsley. He eventually signed for Manchester United in 1907, spending the rest of his career with the "Red Devils. He made 270 appearances and scored 9 goals from 1907 to 1915, though he officially retired in 1919.
One of Manchester United's key players during the club's first golden era, Stacey was initially signed as reserve but quickly became a starter thanks to his consistency. He was an uncompromising full-back who could rely on flawless defensive play, strength, quick football brain and the ability to always be in the right place. His weakness was his notable lack of pace which is the likely reason why he never capped for England even though he was called-up for a match in 1912. A solid penalty taker, he scored 5 of his 9 goals from the spot. A man of few words, he was nicknamed "Silent".
