INFO:Joseph "Joe" Dodds was a Scottish footballer who played as left-back and also center-half and regarded as one of the best defender in Celtic history. It's said that there is nowhere of an account of him having bad game for Celtic. Lightening quick left-back with good reflexes and great understanding with his team mates (especially Shaw and McNair), Dodds never afraid to venture forwards and also had tremendous shot and powerful free kick were always a threat to the opposition goal. The Celtic defence was renowned to be possibly the best in the Brittish at the time. He played total 378 games for Celtic.
Quote:
Defenders weren’t known for their scoring prowess back in the days when Joe Dodds plied his trade but he did pick up the healthy total of 30 goals during his time with the club – a fair old amount for a left-back. He was known for his speed but the main reason for his goals was his trademark rocket shot from distance which put him in the same class as later thunderbolt specialists such as Tommy Gemmell and Murdo MacLeod.
