Sven Rydell is legendary Swedish striker, one of the best players in the world during the 20's. He played as inside right and centre forward, technically fantastic, excellent dribbler with great instinct for goal, great athlete as well prone to quick combinative play, had good understanding with temmates and wasn't selfish despite all the goals he scored. He is still leading scorer with 49 goals of the Swedish national team. Rydell played from 1924 to 1933 for Örgryte IS, with which it was founded in 1926 and 1928, the first Allsvenskan - the Swedish championship title was awarded at that time is not official. From 1930 to 1931 he played for the well-known mainly for his handball department Redbergslids IK. He was also still working for Holmens IS. Total Rydell brought it to 156 goals in the highest Swedish league. In the Swedish national team striker completed the 1923-1932 total of 43 games. He scored 49 goals, an average of 1.14 goals per game. In his only major international tournament, the 1924 Olympic Games, he won the bronze medal with Sweden. With a total of six goals he had in common with the Swiss artist Max Abegglen behind Pedro Petrone (eight goals) most successful goalscorer. Rydell for his achievements in 1931 with the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal, was awarded. In 2003 he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame SFS.
