Defence MindedINFO:Jones was a full-back and one of the first ever legends in Wolverhampton Wanderers history. He made his first team debut on 2nd September 1901 and from that moment he made 111 consecutive appearances for a total of 334 in his whole career. In around a decade he missed only a handful of matches, setting the club record of five seasons playing all the games. In 1910 he suffered an ankle injury that stopped his career, which officially ended in 1913.
A typical old school no-frills defender, Jones was in fact part of the strong defence that stopped Newcastle United from winning the 1907-08 FA Cup. He had great consistency throughout the season and an outstanding mentality during the match that never made him give up. He proved to be surprisingly effective in attack as well since he scored 16 goals. In fact he wasn't too stuck in defence but could play close up to the half backs, dashing in to intercept passes or stop long kicks with accuracy.
