Attack MindedINFO:Tunstall was a left-winger who spent the majority of his career at Sheffield United, playing 491 matches and scoring 135 goals from 1920 to 1931. In 1924-25 he set the post-war record for most goals scored by a left-winger with 20. Apparently he played also as left-inside, for example in an FA Cup final against Cardiff City, probably with Gillespie moved to the centre forward position. After leaving Sheffield United, he had a good four-year spell at Halifax Town in Third Division, scoring 40 times in 105 league games. He gained 7 caps for England between 1923 and 1925.
Tunstall was a very good winger, gifted with explosive speed, who completed himself with Billy Gillespie on the left flank thanks to the brain of the Irish player. They mutual understood each other: they had the ability to command instant superiority by quick thinking, accurate passing and determination to seize a scoring chance when within goal-range. A good scorer, Tunstall had one of the most powerful shots of his time. Brilliant on the wing, he could deliver perfect crosses in the penalty area or be a threat for the defenders due to his flying ability that left even the best centre-halves standing.
