Borello was a left winger. He made 154 appearances for Pro Vercelli from 1919 to 1928, scoring 30 goals He had his last season at Biellese. He capped once for Italy in 1924. Borello was a fast player, gifted with great dribbling that troubled the defenders. He possessed good strength that allowed him to face and overcome more opponents. He was a good crosser and took corner kicks. Whilst he could give his shots some power, he could also miss the easiest scoring chances. His playstyle was based on running down the left flank and either dribbling as much as he could to have free space to shoot on goal or delivering crosses to the box. His chemistry with his teammates was excellent especially with Ardizzone and Alessandro Rampini.
