Saihi was defensive midfielder for Ligue 1 winning side of HSC Montpellier. He formed a midfield partnership with Marco Estrada in which he was mostly oriented on defense but also contributed to early organisation of the attacking actions. Often, he tried to find attackers with precise lofted passes, and although he was good with the ball at his feet, he rarely tried to dribble past the opponent.
