Hao Junmin is a central midfielder, capable of playing also as defensive or side midfielder ─ mainly on the right side ─ and less frequently as attacking midfielder, side back and winger. His career began in 2004 at Tianjin Teda, where he played 142 matches in six seasons, scoring 17 goals. He transferred to Schalke 04 in 2009, remaining there for two seasons but without much success. He came back to China, playing for Shandong Luneng from 2011 to 2021, making 275 appearances and scoring 12 times. He joined Wuhan on 25th July 2021. He gained 87 caps for China, scoring 12 goals.
Hao Junmin is a very versatile player and excellent playmaker ─ 50 are his assists during his time at Shandong Luneng ─ mostly focused on the attack and not very active in the defence. He's capable of breaking through the defence with ease thanks to his good speed when bursting in short spaces, fine technique, frequent movements to the side, dribbling and turning skills. He's an outstanding passer especially with his accurate crosses that can come from any position, lacking of high speed but reaching perfectly his teammate. He also is a dead ball specialist, providing numerous assists from set piece, especially corners, and scoring some goals from direct free kick. He possesses a threatening long range shot that he uses to deliver the ball usually to high corners, catching the opposing goalkeeper unprepared.
