After playing most of his career as center midfielder, Arão was repositioned as defensive midfielder by the coach Jorge Jesus, due to his characteristics as a player. Also, because Jesus understood that he was better playing facing the opponent's goal than receiving the ball with his back to the goal to turn and pass.
