Hysaj is a right-back, sometimes deployed as left-back and occasionally as centre back, the latter mostly with his national team. His career began in 2011 at Empoli, where he remained until 2015, playing 109 matches and scoring once. He then transferred to Napoli, where he had a successful experience, making 222 appearances in six seasons and scoring 1 goal. He signed for Lazio in 2021. He capped for Albania 76 times so far, scoring twice.
A good side back with solid pace and great determination, Hysaj is dynamic and able in distributing the ball quickly with short passes to start the play, though he's more capable of delivering accurate crosses from the back or the flank. While he's not notably good from a technical standpoint, he has a solid physique that allows him to protect the ball when he's under pressure. He gives his support in both attack and defence even though he doesn't particularly excel in neither. Especially when it comes to defending, he often showed some weaknesses in one-on-one challenges, giving his opponent enough space and time to dribble.
