He's known for his great pace and stamina and he covers the whole left wing, constantly up and down the flank. He's not as skilled with the ball as his teammate Al-Burayk but with his speed he can drive the team forward with his dribbling, especially on counter attacks. Because he's right footed, he usually doesn't go to the wing and cross but floats inside and links up with his teammates on the attack. Although small in build he has OK strength and a very good leap. In defence he's very aggressive in intercepting passes and going on the front foot to challenge the wingers, maybe even too eager to leave the defensive line which can leave gaps behind him, although of course he's very fast and can cover these gaps well. He's spent almost his whole career at Al-Hilal winning lots of trophies including 2 Champions League titles, and has been a regular with the Saudi national team, playing every game in the 2018 World Cup. At the 2022 World Cup he suffered a horrible head injury in the last minute of the famous win over Argentina, spending time in hospital and missing 6 months of football but becoming a symbol of the determination which won Saudi Arabia the game.
