INFO:

Osama Hawsawi is a former Saudi defender, IMO one of the best centre backs the country has produced. He's considered a legend of both Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli, and was a permanent fixture in the national team, earning 138 caps and captaining his country at the 2018 World Cup. He was a tall and strong defender, but he wasn't just all muscle like a lot of big defenders, actually he was very clean and composed with good positioning and interceptions. He was fast over long distances and good in the air with a nice leap, he was quite threatening from set pieces. He was very tough to beat in 1-on-1 situations due to his large size and speed, rarely diving into tackles so it was difficult to exploit him. He played very deep, almost like a sweeper, dealing calmly with any balls behind the defence. This simple, risk-free playing style extended to his ball skills too, as he usually just passed to the nearest player and didn't go forward with the ball. He's one of the few Saudi players to go abroad, as he signed for Anderlecht, although he only played 1 game in Belgium.
