INFO:Abel Hernández is a secondary striker, capable of playing as centre forward. His career began in 2007. He played for Central Español and Peñarol before transferring to Palermo in January 2009. Initially a reserve, he had three good consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2012, scoring 21 goals in 71 matches. After the underwhelming 2012-13 season that ended with Palermo's relegation, he was instrumental for the team that won the 2013-14 Serie B by scoring 14 goals in 28 games. He then joined Hull City in 2014. The first season wasn't impressive and he had to suffer another relegation. However, just like he did at Palermo, he led his team to an immediate promotion by scoring 21 goals in 42 appearances. He left the "Tigers" in 2018 after 111 matches and 39 goals. He then played for CSKA Moskva, Qatari team Al-Ahli, Internacional and Fluminense. He signed for Mexican team Atlético San Luis in 2022. He capped for Uruguay 29 times, scoring 11 goals and winning the 2011 Copa América.
Hernández is an extremely quick and agile player, gifted with an explosive sprint. Inspired by Brazilian legend Ronaldo, he's left-footed, possesses great sense of goal, good heading ability and leap. He plays better when he acts as secondary striker and is supported by a centre forward. Technically gifted, he can dribble the opponents efficiently, helped by good strength that allows him to break through the opposing defence. He has a powerful shot and can score spectacular goals but he usually prefers to place the ball with accuracy. In his most prolific season, the 2015-16 with Hull City, he showed excellent positioning and awareness in front of the goal as he scored many times with tap-ins or was always ready to hit the ball after the goalkeeper saved a shot. On the other hand, he never scored with a header. Lacking of consistency and work rate throughout his career, it's not a surprise that he had his best seasons in the Italian and English second divisions.
