Matías Silvestre is a centre back. His career began in 2002 at Boca Juniors, where he won several national and continental trophies, making 83 appearances and scoring 6 goals in five and a half seasons. He transferred to Catania, where he had another very good experience, playing 126 matches from 2008 to 2011, scoring 7 times. He then had a successful season at Palermo but the same can't be said about the following two years at Inter and Milan. He found himself again at Sampdoria, playing 132 games from 2014 to 2018. He then played for Empoli, Livorno, Royal Excel Mouscron and eventually signed for Virtus Entella in 2021.
Silvestre is a strong defender, who still possesses fine speed. He relies on his physical attributes to face the opponents since he's not too great in terms of pure defensive skills and his performances aren't flawless. He's gifted with decent basic technique whilst his accurate and often powerful headers are undoubtedly his best quality that allowed him to be a threat in the opposing box and to score numerous goals especially during his time at Boca Juniors, Catania and Palermo.
