Pocket striker, fast and with excellent dribbling, Janusz SYBIS, "The Polish Pulca” was often selected during the period 1978/80 by coach Ryszard Kulesza. His successor Antoni Piechnicezk preferred players more physically powerful.

Collective and technical center forward, in the style of the french player Bernard Lacombe, Roman OGAZA was selected in the national team until september 1981, before being replaced by the new generation symbolized by Andrzej Palasz.

Tenacious and effective left fullback, with a powerful left shot, having worn the captain's armband in selection, Wojciech RUDY would have been very useful to mitigate injuries in this position, as it was the case during the competition for Jan Jalocha and Marek Dziuba on the right flank, Stefan MAJEWSKI preferring to play in central defense or as a defensive/central midfielder.

When asked why you didn't go to the World Cup in Spain, Antoni SZYMANOWSKI replied: "I was called to the last training camp in Germany before the World Cup. After a preparation match where I scored a goal, the coach said I was not part of his team organization idea, but I was ok with being a substitute, after all it was about participating in the World Cup. It seems that the coach called me to the last group before the World Cup just to please the public ".
