Zitouni is easily top 3 African CB of all time and certainly the best to ever play in Ligue 1 - IMO he's a must for both first team and best XI (instead of Song). Speaking of best XI: Gana is IMO a better choice for DMF than Seydou Keita. For reserves you might consider Faouzi Mansouri, Abdallah Liegeon, Éric Rabésandratana and Henri Bedimo (who is IMO the 2nd best LB in Ligue 1 history - close to Taiwo only).

I'd take Mamadou Niang over Utaka or Aubameyang. He has 100 Ligue 1 goals and won the title.

I don't understand the logic of this list.
Emmanuel Aznar was born in Algeria at a time when Algeria was French, never had dual nationality, neither of his parents are African, and played for the French national team. He was a "Pied-Noir".
I deduce that one of the important points to be on the list is to be born in Africa.
Nordine Kourichi, born in France to Algerian parents, chose Algeria as his national team. This time, where he was born is irrelevant because he was an African international.
Jérémy Morel, born in France, his father is Malagasy, he chose to play for Madagascar because he had no chance of becoming a French international. Is that enough to label him an African player.
So how is an African player defined? Where were they born? Where were their parents born? The nation they played for as an international?
I think it would be wise to remove Emmanuel Aznar from this list or else include the others "Pied-Noir", Jean Baeza born in Alger, Just Fontaine born in Marrakech, Christian Lopez born in Aïn Temouchent, Ernest Libérati born in Oran etc.
And also if a player like Farès Bousdira is on the list, what about all the French internationals born in Africa? Vieira, Desailly, Tigana, Boli, Cissé etc.
The presence of Pierre Aubame (father) does not seem justified to me either, he was a decent Ligue 1 player in teams that faced relegation every year moving between ligue 2 and ligue 1.

He was a "Pied-Noir". Not only was he born in Algeria but he also spent a good amount of years of career there before transferring to France. He then also took two years to represent France, which he did only once. This is a pattern we use for national all star teams that can have all-time and post-independence versions. gengiskhan wrote: And also if a player like Farès Bousdira is on the list Bousdira is probably the one who can be out as he spent his entire professional career in France other than having represented France.

I understand, so theoretically player like Mario Zatelli could also be part of this list.
