This also needs an update. Keylor Navas and Alphonso Davies are already worth being on the first team. Lindy Delapenha should be there too. Wes Morgan, Andrés Guardado, Hector Herrera, Christian Pulisic and David Suazo deserve to be at least on reserves. EDIT: Álvaro Murillo too. |

I had this idea for an update of this team. I tried to represent different countries but at the end Canada, USA, Mexico and Costa Rica are the most represented, understandably so. Share any feedback you have to improve the team. Spoiler: show |

I'm no expert on this subject, but I would think Antonio Carbajal should be at least in the reserves. He had appeared in 5 different World Cup tournaments which was a record for 32 years until Matthäus in 1998, I dont know if thats enough to put him in there but its certainly impressive. I also always thought Brad Friedel was better than Tim Howard but I might be in the minority there |

I also always thought Brad Friedel was better than Tim Howard but I might be in the minority there Carbajal was definitely one of my potential choices. I wouldn't argue adding him to the reserves, replacing Forrest or Keller. About Friedel and Howard, I consider them on the same level but given that the latter was ultimately chosen for the best XI in the last USA all stars update, I guess it makes sense to have Howard over Friedel. |

I put that down to Howard simply having more caps than Friedel, but from having watched them both many times in the Premier League I would take Friedel. He always seemed the superior keeper to me |

I put that down to Howard simply having more caps than Friedel, but from having watched them both many times in the Premier League I would take Friedel. He always seemed the superior keeper to me Howard is in best XI of USA AS because he was much better and especially more consistent goalkeeper for the NT than Friedel ever was, carrying the team in a way that no American GK did before him. Carbajal should be in first team here, I don't see a single reason why Ochoa should be selected over him. In general I'm not a big fan of both Campos and Forrest, especially the latter wasn't superior to Shaka Hislop or Conejo for example. IMO Campos is actually ranked higher of his unique playing style (similar to Higuita) while both Ignacio Calderon and Pablo Larios are underrated despite playing very good WCs in 1970 and 1986. Anyway, returning to this team: If you call the team North America AS, then Mijnals shoudln't be in. Suriname is part of CONCACAF but not North America. If he's in, then he's a strong candidate for first team - like Morgan and even Balboa. Your suggested team has four RBs, while LB position is only covered with Davies. Of course Stalteri could play there but he was primarily a RB, not a LB. Angloma should be removed here, he was long time French international and shouldn't be here for playing some unimportant friendlies when he was already 41 years old. Bailey can be in reserves, despite playing for Leverkusen and Villa he always has struggled with consistency and never was (and probably never will be) a strong player who can lead a team. I'd replace him with either Delapenha (don't know why he isn't in reserves in your team, he is a no-brainer here) or Lozano. I also don't understand why Negrete, Cardenas and Casarin are removed at all, especailly considering the names who are in reserves for example. You may debate if they should be in first team or not (although it is IMO a fact that both Negrete and Cardenas were better than Ruiz, de Guzman, Bradley or Hutchinson) but they're a must for reserves. Same goes for Caligiuri btw who I'd rank much higher than Alexi Lalas. From Trinidad Carlos Edwards and Kenwyne Jones could be considered here as well, maybe instead of Roberts. Frank Sinclair also should be taken into consideration for defense. |

I’d definitely have Gustavo Peña in the first team, IMO he’s the second best Mexican defender after Marquez and captained Mexico at two World Cups. Also I guess you want some kind of variety of nations represented but it seems strange to see guys like Roberts and Goater in reserves when Luis Hernandez for example isn’t there. Likewise Blanco was a much better player than Dely Valdes or Bailey. |

I named the team "All Time North America" to keep the same pattern as "All Time Europe", "All Time South America" and so on. However, I mean CONCACAF. Should I name it "All Time CONCACAF" to avoid confusion? gurkenjoe93 wrote: Your suggested team has four RBs, while LB position is only covered with Davies. I eventually chose some names instead of others for various reasons but I can't argue the points you made. I also wanted to represent more countries, that's why there are some debatable names in my list, but I guess that's something hard to do especially when countries like Mexico and USA have had so many important players. Who do you suggest to add to have another LB? As far as I'm concerned Ramón Ramírez played as a left-back for the Mexican National Team for over a decade and he is usually considered one of their best full-backs (and players) ever. There's also Carlos Salcido and Arturo Vázquez Ayala as possible options. |
