Roberto Martínez only really played in the English lower leagues, right? I think someone like Óscar García would be a better choice to be in the reserves. You could also add Joaquín Navarro who played almost 300 games for Real Madrid in the 50s. |

However, if you check the links, you'd notice that for some reason he's even included in an hypothetical best XI and amongst the top 10 ever player from Catalonia. ![]() At this point I just take Martínez out since I considered him as coach and that should be enough. |

Anyway, regarding the team: Roberto Martinez has nothing to do as coach with Catalonia, he never even coached a Spanish team => Replace him with Pichi Alonso who coached the Catalonia team for 10 years. Best XI: Segarra, Guardiola and Basora were all far superior to Ferrer, Busquets and Garcia, they all need to be in best XI. Reserves: If a Catalan father is enough for Paulino Alcantara in first team, then Sagi-Barba should be in reserves at least (he was born in Argentina but played on regular level for Catalonia XI). Sergej Milinković-Savić on the other hand definitely needs to be removed, he has absolutely no affilitation to Catalunia and should be replaced by Gonzalvo II (who played for both Spain and Catalonia and was like his brother one of the best midfielders of his generation). One last thing and I know that Milos will roast me for that: If there's one team where Oleguer deserves this place, then it's certainly Catalonia ![]() |

Thanks! I updated the team. About the coach, I wanted to select Pichi Alonso but then I opted for Martínez because he was born in Catalonia − which is the same reason why I selected Milinković-Savić. However Pichi Alonso surely is a better choice since he actually coached the team. Regarding Oleguer, I considered him as reserve but you have no idea how much I disliked that player! ![]() Last thing, I don't know how and why I left Guardiola out of the first XI. ![]() |

I don't know the reason which Vicente Engonga is in this team. He was born in Barcelona, but never played in Catalonia and he and his family feel Ecuato Guinean and Cantabrian. In the same way Carlos Muñoz was born in Úbeda, Andalucía. He lived his childhood and played being young in Catalonia teams, but he only played for Catalonia 2 times. Keita Baldé, who was born in Catalonia, hasn't never played for Catalonia. [https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anexo:Futbolistas_de_la_selecci%C3%B3n_de_f%C3%BAtbol_de_Catalu%C3%B1a] |

If Catalonia ever became an official national team, recognized by FIFA, then I'd consider only those who actually already played for the team. The same would go for other teams I posted here like Guadeloupe and Martinique. |
