Plattkó is obviously the 2nd best Hungarian goalkeeper but should he really be in the team considering he only played 6 games for Hungary? I feel like Szabó should be there with Grosics considering he had 40 caps and reached the World Cup final in 1938...


I'd probably also take Kubala out of the reserves, 3 caps is nowhere near enough for him to make any sort of impact on the national team. Zoltan Gera can replace him: almost 100 caps, a great scoring record for a midfielder and led them to the second round in their first international tournament in 30 years with the goal of the tournament.


Also I think Tichy deserves first team more than Orth does, only Kocsis scored more goals at the World Cup for Hungary than he did, and he's also their 4th overall top scorer. 51 goals in 72 caps is more than enough to be in the first team

Just to visualise the problem with this team:


There are far too many attacking players, not enough players further back. Obviously most of the players in this team are from before the 60s where there were more attacking players in general, but Bozsik is the only midfielder in this team that can defend, and even the "Midfielders" section has three players that don't have any midfield positions in their playable positions at all. I propose József Zakariás to first team over Konrád (he was the DM in the team of the early 50s, an important part of that team in fact, and I'm not sure why he wasn't here in the first place), and Gyula Lázár over Orth (again, an important part of the 1938 team that also reached the World Cup final). That should at least make it more balanced and not force you to use a ridiculous formation with 4 or 5 attackers, and also give Bozsik a proper backup.

I completely disagree with Zakarias on the first team. He was def the weakest player at that 54 team. Ferenc Sipos is also a DMF and is a much better player. Also, Gyorgy Orth should go back to the first team too; he is one of the best players who can play as a midfielder.
