I have to salute the argentinians. They played like it was a WC final.

As for Brazil, with a midfield like this there is nothing much to do. Fred is just horrible, only Tite don't see this.
And there is nothing much to expect from a team who loses their nerve when they suffer a goal in the 20th minute. I have the feeling the sixth star will have to wait a bit more, maybe until 2026.

And it will be the same joke like his Ballon d'or in 2010. People in third world countries don't even know Lewy, KdB or Kanté but will end up voting Messi and CR7 again because they are the only players that they apparently know (and unfortunately their votes at the voting count as much as the ones from actual football nations).
But it's good to see that the magician still knows how to disappear in important NT games, luckily he had di Maria this time to save his ass again.

Finally, some success for Argentineans. It wasn't a mistake to stay very late and watch the game. Di Maria showed his class once again, one of the most underrated players in the world for years.
But I must say, I have never seen such emotions from Messi until last night. Can't imagine what went through his head when he missed that last minute chance. But I'm glad that he finally won the trophy with his NT.

Also, it's interesting that the final was officiated by a man of Yugoslav origins.

Pretty interesting that both Ronaldo and Messi finally won their international trophies by dragging their teams to the final and then having virtually zero contribution in the final itself.

Messi was absolutely insane this tournament though. 4 goals and 5 assists, that’s 9 of Argentina’s 11 goals he was involved in. About the Ballon d’Or I think it’s a two horse race between him and Lewy. KDB didn’t have his best season and I don’t see why Kanté is being mentioned when Jorginho has been just as good if not better and could likely win the Euros while being one of the best midfielders of the tournament. Of course Kanté was incredible in the CL but he’s just “great” in the league and didn’t have an outstanding Euro. Also a great performance tonight and a great start to the season might push Kane into the competition. Only if he scores a hat trick or something though.
