So guys, as for the big tournaments in 2014 and 2018 I think I open a thread to discuss the current European championship 2016 (don't know why we didn't have one in 2016 lol).

Italy vs. Turkey is a pretty interesting match for a start and one of the few games where I actually support the Italian NT

Regarding the favorites I think that France is of course the biggest one, the other big nations (England, Italy and of course us Germans) as well and the eternal "secret favorite" - Belgium (whose "Golden generation" will surely do everything to finally claim a title).
Hopefully there'll be surprises as well but tbh I can't predict who can pull of an "Island 2.0" this year ;)

I can see a France vs Italy final, I would be very surprised if France doesn’t at least finish with a silver medal. Other than that I can see England, Portugal and Belgium all doing well. Germany will either go out in the round of 16 or get to the final, their squad still has obvious quality but I still have serious question marks around them as a team.

I didn't doubt a win against Turkey, but Italy steamrolled them. Great start!

Am I the only one who expected much more from the Turks? I also considered Italy as favorite for the game but the performance by the Turks was without any doubt one of the worst I've ever seen at the Euros..

I thought Turkey would be a dark horse going into the tournament, but you can never tell with them. They seem to be equally likely to reach the semi finals or crash out in the group stage. Their form is basically just like flipping a coin to see if they’ll be either unstoppable or absolutely awful.

I expected a lot more from Turkey, but they pulled out Serbian style. Still, I like that Italy started with dominant win.

Will the unpredictable Finland be able to do what Iceland did in their first Euro participation? They haven't won much recently but who knows.

Props to the medical staff. They showed great reflexes. Sort of arrythmia (irregular heartbeat). He'll recover, but he may not play again at the top level.

Disastrous defeat for the Danes, Finns couldn't wish for a better debut.

Belgium didn't reach high standards, Russia seemed pretty defective, poor output as well. Can't figure out how Lukaku's not offside at the first goal. I wouldn't say the defender has control of the ball, I consider this as a deflection.

Interesting fact: According to Opta data Finland became the first team in 40 years to win at a major tournament by making only one shot.

Well, there’s no way we can get any points from England and Croatia, but it’s fun to just be back in a tournament again I guess...

What we learned today: Portugal has become even worse in terms of playing level, they only have luck like they had five years ago. Probably they still end up in final again with that bullshit, although they'll surely get their asses whipped by the French. Guys like Fernandes wouldn't have been a reserve player during the days of Figo, Rui Costa & Co and poor Bruno isn't even allowed to take penalties to raise his scorers

If they start Renato instead of William or Danilo they should do well, Santos is way too conservative playing two DMFs against a weak team like Hungary.

195 games done, two left before the horror ends. It's time that our NT is finally cured of the cancer called Löw. Except for Mbappé (who was outstanding) and Griezmann the French didn't even do something impressive today (deserved win of course) and yet those retard tactics ruined our chances to get at least a point here. Even hundred years ago Havertz' speed and attitude would have stood out from the other players (and not in a positive way), I don't get how you can play like that if you have the honor to represent your country
Btw, shoutout to Hugo Lloris for the greatest stalling performance in the history of the game, starting before even the first 15 minutes were done. But hey, if you are neither a good or even a great goalkeeper, then you have to help your team in the only way that you can - guess even the ref felt pity for him and therefore didn't book him.
