Cláudio was a typical right winger of his time, dribbling and fast. But as time went by, he became a kind of playmaking winger, because of his high technique. Still dribbling and going deep in lines to cross though.
When Luizinho joined the professionals, he formed his best duo in history, even though he had already played with great inside-rights, as Antoninho and Waldemar Fiume.
Cláudio and Luizinho are considered the first Brazilians to develop the "tabelinha", later established by Pelé and Coutinho.
Cláudio was known as The Manager due to his leadership on the field. In addition, he was an excellent taker of free kicks, penalties and corners, something that he learned when arrived at Corinthians with the renowned left winger Hércules who was an expert in putting effects/curves on the ball. Cláudio was impressed with his kicking style and soon put himself in position to learn his technique. Cláudio was considered, alongside Jair Rosa Pinto, the best free kicker of his time.
The Manager is Corinthians' all-time top goalscorer.
