Toledo was one of the first star players in Guatemala's top flight from 1938 to 1955, helping Municipal win four titles in seven seasons and being the league's top scorer on four occasions. With the national team, he participated in four editions of the Central American and Caribbean Football Championships and two Central American and Caribbean Games, and went on to become the team's top scorer.
Biography: Carlos Humberto Toledo born in Guatemala City in August 10, 1919. After playing for several amateur teams during his early years, he was discovered in the late 1930s by CSD Municipal coach Manuel Felipe Carrera, who brought him to his team.
In 1938, in Municipal's first match in the Liga Capitalina (the top division, before the creation of the Liga Nacional in 1942), he scored two goals against IRCA in a 2-2 draw. He would finish the season with 15 goals, three behind the top scorer, Roberto Calderón of Tipografía Nacional, as Municipal finished in second place.
In 1942, the first division was created and was renamed Liga Nacional, and a new era began in the history of Guatemala's football. In a close race with Tipografía Nacional, who by then had formed a bitter rivalry with Municipal, the latter won the tournament, with him scoring 18 goals in 12 matches, marking the first of four consecutive years as the league's top scorer. In the 1943 Liga Nacional, with a runner-up he scored 10 goals in 10 matches, in the 1944-45 league, he scored again 18 goals in 12 matches, and in the 1947 Liga Nacional he scored 26 goals in 14 matches, making the total of his peak 70 goals in 48 matches, with a unveliebable average of 1.45 goals per match.
He contributed 26 goals in 14 league matches to Municipal's second league title in 1947, cementing his status as one of the great players of the 40s decade for Guatemala.
He was first selected for the Guatemala national team in 1943, participating in the 2nd CCCF Championship in San Salvador, where he finished second in goal difference.
With the National Team, he played the extinted CCCF Cup (Caribbean and Centroamerican Football Cup) IN THE 2nd CCCF Championship in 1943, he scored 7 goals in 6 matches, being runner-up against El Salvador. In the 3rd CCCF Championship in 1946, played in San José, Costa Rica, he finished second in points behind the hosts; with 11 goals, he was the tournament's top scorer, scoring three goals in as many matches, against Costa Rica in a 4-1 win, against Nicaragua in a 7-0 win and against Panama in a 3-3 tie.
