He played for Corinthians for eleven years. Although he wasn't a very consistent player, he was always difficult to get past, and when he played well, he could perfectly support the attack. According to several commentators of the time, he had a flexibility that helped him in his interventions; he stretched and managed to clear the ball, always at the right moment, with "stylish and efficient placement," and he consistently achieved this even on the muddiest pitches that were difficult to maintain perfect stability. He possessed certain physical dribbling and incessant mobility that enabled him to perfectly fulfill his role in the midfield. He was tough to play against, a "tireless worker." And even with the criticism of his playing style he faced in the 1940s, where sportswriters said he was outdated, he managed to turn things around and present the best of his golden years, even being called up by coach Pimenta to play in the 1942 South American Championship. He had also played in the 1937 South American Championship, where Brazil was runner-up, and the 1938 World Cup, where Brazil finished third, Brazil's best campaign to date. He was a player of clear longevity, living through ups and downs, but always impressing everyone with his performance as a center-midfielder. sources : https://bndigital.bn.br/acervo-digital/sport-illustrado/182664https://memoria.bn.gov.br/DocReader/docreader.aspx?bib=112518_01&pasta=ano%20193&pesq=&pagfis=10715https://memoria.bn.gov.br/DocReader/docreader.aspx?bib=112518_01&pasta=ano%20193&pesq=&pagfis=10760https://memoria.bn.gov.br/DocReader/docreader.aspx?bib=112518_01&pasta=ano%20193&pesq=&pagfis=10987https://memoria.bn.gov.br/docreader/DocReader.aspx?bib=182664&Pesq=brandao&pagfis=7308https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Augusto_Brand%C3%A3ohttps://www.meutimao.com.br/jogador-do-corinthians/jose-brandaohttps://todopoderosotimao.com.br/p_idolos/brandao_01.phphttps://terceirotempo.uol.com.br/que-fim-levou/brandao-5835
